Two hundred voices will join in celebration of the city of Frostburg’s 200th anniversary on Sunday, September 16, at 3PM in Frostburg State University’s Performing Arts Center Pealer Recital Hall. This Bicentennial Chorus concert will culminate the Frostburg 2012 Bicentennial Signature Weekend Festivities and is free and open to the public.

The chorus will include members of the FSU Chorale and Chamber Choir and the choirs of Frostburg United Methodist Church, St. Michael Catholic Church, First Presbyterian Church, First English Baptist Church, Frostburg Church of the Nazarene and members of the Frostburg community.

A new chorale work has been commissioned for this occasion by the Frostburg Bicentennial Committee. “Mountain City Reverie” was composed by Dr. Sean Beachy on text by local poet Nina Forsythe. Beachy is a nationally recognized composer and also the organist at Frostburg United Methodist Church.

Other performances will include “In the Heart of the World” by Bob Chilcott and “How Can I Keep From Slipping,” arranged by Z. Randall Stroope. Beachy will also be accompanying the choirs for this performance.

The concert will also feature Dr. Mark Gallagher on clarinet, a performance by Dr. Greg Latta and selected works by the Frostburg United Methodist Church Choir under the direction of Debi Beachy.
